HydraFacial

Regardless of your age, hydration is essential to maintaining radiant skin. Advanced skin care treatments can support the skin’s overall health, promote healing, and reduce signs of visible damage. HydraFacial is a unique non-invasive treatment that cleanses, hydrates, and protects the skin. A series of restorative treatments can minimize fine lines and wrinkles, reduce pore size, and even out your skin tone.

Safe and non-irritating, HydraFacial treatments are suitable for all skin types.

What is a HydraFacial?

The HydraFacial is a medical grade resurfacing treatment specially designed to clean pores, reduce pore size, and hydrate the skin simultaneously. The HydraFacial treatment is non-invasive, and has no downtime whatsoever.

The treatment has minimal to no discomfort during the procedure, and is considered to be much more gentle than similar procedures such as microdermabrasion and chemical peels.

The HydraFacial treatment was designed to be comfortable and cause the least amount of irritation possible while still addressing spot appearances.

Replenish, Recharge and Balance your Skin

The HydraFacial is separated into 4 phases:

  • Cleansing
  • Exfoliation
  • Extraction
  • Hydration

The procedure utilizes special vortex fusion technology to clear the skin of dead skin cells, which then allows for the appearance of new and healthy skin. A special proprietary blend of glycolic and salicylic acid is applied to the skin that helps break up the congested pores, and penetrates the skin to wake up the blood vessels. The impurities are then removed from the pores via a method called cortex extraction. The extraction is painless, but is still extremely effective at deep cleaning the clogged pores on the face.

After extraction, a serum is applied that not only protects the skin, but also supplements it with antioxidants and leaves the skin feeling hydrated, fresh, and clean. Each HydraFacial serum has been designed to address a specific need or concern. Our skin care expert will customize a treatment to best match your skin care goals.

Dermabuilder Boost

A revitalizing treatment that minimizes signs of aging and improves skin texture. This powerful serum contains peptides that condition and firm the skin.

Growth Factor Boost

A restorative treatment that helps smooth out wrinkles and boost elasticity. This serum contains Connective Tissue Growth Factor, proteins that help maintain the skin’s structure.

Britenol Boost

A brightening treatment for the complexion that helps fade dark spots and discoloration. This serum contains Alpha-Arbutin and Vitamin C to help minimize irregularities in skin tone.

What Does it Treat?

The HydraFacial works especially well for acne, and can facilitate the appearance of certain acne scars as well. This treatment is great for many acne types since it does not apply pressure to the skin, which results in less skin disturbance. Blackheads and whiteheads are easily addressed, and even deep cystic acne can be treated vs. the use of drying over the counter creams and potentially harmful medications.

Oily skin is very common and is a leading cause of acne breakouts, but can be managed by a HydraFacial. Excess sebum and oil is removed with the cleansing and extraction.

A HydraFacial also can affect the appearance of hyperpigmentation, fine lines, and wrinkles. The antioxidants and peptides that are infused can provide long-term anti-aging benefits when used consistently. Dryness of the skin is also improved, which makes this treatment a commonly received counterpart to other procedures such as lasers.

Many patients savor the improved skin tone and texture without the residual irritation or peeling that accompanies other treatments. This is thanks to the radiance-imparting properties of the HydraFacial. The extra glow bestowed from this treatment makes it a big favorite immediately before big events such as weddings, red carpet events, and other large scale gatherings that people wish to look their absolute best for.

A HydraFacial can also assist with the appearance of sun damage, age spots, flaky precancerous spots, and dark patches when used in conjunction with other treatments.

Who’s a Candidate for HydraFacial?

Jack of All Trades

HydraFacial can be considered a jack of all trades treatment, as this treatment is one of the very few that can be universal – anyone is a candidate. While there are a variety of treatments available that can help individuals achieve healthy, smooth skin, very few are as gentle, noninvasive, and effective as the HydraFacial. Some treatments may only target specific problems, or don’t work on all skin types. The HydraFacial treatment has been proven to work on everyone, and everything. Patients of all ages, and of all skin types and complexions are candidates for a HydraFacial, and the treatment is designed to treat almost any condition either alone or in conjunction with other treatments.

While HydraFacial is almost universal in its application, patients with active rashes, sunburns, or rosacea are not the best candidates for this procedure, and will want to consult their dermatologist for a treatment plan. Additionally, patients who are currently pregnant are advised to avoid the treatment due to the use of salicylic acid.

Oily Skin

Normally a challenging condition to treat, patients who are naturally predisposed to having oily skin are very common. Pores with excess oil is a leading cause of acne, and is prevalent among not only teenagers, but adults as well. The condition can persist for many years, and acne breakouts can then lead to permanent acne scars that never go away. Keeping acne under control is one of the best measures that can be taken to prevent the appearance of acne scars.

At home treatments for oily skin usually involve harsh chemicals that dry out the skin, and can yield little results, if any. HydraFacial on the other hand can treat oily skin very well with no downtime or discomfort. This treatment deeply cleans pores in order to remove blackheads, whiteheads, treat deep cystic acne, as well as remove the excess oil, dirt, and impurities that can lead to acne. The hydration serums applied can keep the oil produced by the skin under control, and the appearance of certain acne scars can be improved upon as well due to the increased volume, firmness, and collagen.

Combo Enhancer

One reason for the HydraFacial having so many treatments performed is due to the fact that it can be combined with other procedures. The non aggressive nature of the treatment means that it can be done in conjunction with a multitude of other common procedures.

Oftentimes, a HydraFacial can be performed the exact same day as other non-invasive treatments such as Botox, fillers, and certain lasers. Other stronger laser treatments such as Fraxel typically have a temporary period of dryness or redness as a normal side effect about a week after the procedure. During this time, many patients like to receive a HydraFacial in order to balance out the side effects from the lasers. A HydraFacial received during this time can speed up the normal phase of peeling and dry skin during these lasers, as well as other treatments like microneedling, chemical peels, and light-based treatments like Ultherapy and PDT.

A HydraFacial can also supplement treatment plans composed of other procedures in order to have more of an effect on certain conditions such as acne scarring, undereye circles, and broken capillaries.

Depending on the skin type and other factors, more than one HydraFacial may be necessary in order to reach the desired appearance. Most patients can see results immediately, but particularly troublesome skin may require multiple sessions.

How Does a HydraFacial Work?

A HydraFacial procedure requires approximately 30 minutes to perform. The treatment is separated into 4 separate phases. Due to the nature of the tools and solutions that are used, the phases progress much more rapidly without the wait and tingling that are typically experienced during a traditional chemical peel:

The Road to More Radiant Skin

1) Cleansing

A small deplaning instrument is used to open up the pores, remove dead skin cells, and any leftover makeup or debris on the skin. Patients report this phase feeling like a gentle face massage from an electric toothbrush.

2) Exfoliation

The acid peel used during a HydraFacial is gentle and seldom causes any noticeable stinging. The acids applied help break down the impurities in the pores in order to allow them to be easily eliminated from the extraction phase.

3) Extraction

A vacuum-like nozzle is moved around the face. This process uses vortex fusion technology to deeply clean the pores, which then reduces the pore size.

4) Hydration

A serum is applied to the skin via a vortex infusion tool. The skin is infused with various antioxidants, peptides, and collagen in order to promote hydration and elasticity. These blends calm, soothe, and brighten the skin, and are tailored to meet your personal needs.

Comfortable

The HydraFacial was designed to be comfortable and cause very little irritation. Many patients report enjoying the treatment while it is in progress, with some comparing the treatment to a facial massage. The suctioning techniques used are said to feel relaxing, while still being highly effective in cleansing the skin.

Patients with sensitive skin may experience mild irritation by the serums that are applied, but any discomfort generally resolves very quickly afterwards.

Undergoing extraction from other treatments is usually painful, and are normally accompanied by side effects such as redness or next day breakouts. The HydraFacial extraction on the other hand was designed to have no pain, and is independent of these unwanted side effects. The impurities in the pores are sucked out without needing to squeeze, press, or otherwise irritate the skin due to a combination of the special solution containing anti-inflammatory properties, and the vacuum-like vortex sucking out the sediment without applying pressure.

What To Expect

One of the biggest benefits of after HydraFacial is that the skin’s complexion will appear more hydrated, bright, clear, and plump. Fine lines and wrinkles on the face will be reduced in their appearance, and the skin will have increased firmness. The skin’s tone and texture will be evened out, and pore size will be noticeably diminished due to the extraction and deep cleaning of the pores.

A HydraFacial involves no downtime, and almost no side effects. Immediately after the treatment has been concluded, patients can expect slight redness that will quickly subside on its own (usually about an hour). While the risks are low, it is possible for patients with very reactive skin to have some slight irritation due to the customized serums.

After treatment, the skin should be allowed to rest for the remainder of the day in order to absorb the full effects. Patients are advised to wait until the day after in order to resume wearing makeup and the use of their normal skincare routine.

Results

Reliable

The simple reason as to why HydraFacial is one of the most popular treatments in the world is simply because it works. While other facials may feel great and can help you feel relaxed if you’re stressed, many of them don’t have satisfying results.

HydraFacial on the other hand has easily noticeable results, and is renown for being consistent time after time. Although this treatment is not as technician dependent as others, it is still customizable in order to meet your needs based on your unique goals and skin condition.

Short & Long-Term

Many patients are thrilled to see the aftermath of their HydraFacial which can be seen immediately after the treatment has been completed. Once finished, the skin’s appearance will look well moisturized and possess a natural glow. Other treatments have the risk of inflammation or scarring due to poor techniques from providers without the adequate experience, but HydraFacial is consistently safe and effective. Numerous celebrities receive this treatment the day of a big red carpet event because of how fast, safe, and consistent the results are.

However, even though results can be seen right away, this treatment is intended to improve the skin’s appearance over time, and is not supposed to be considered a quick fix. The effects do last longer than other facials, and follow up treatments are recommended every 4-6 weeks for maintenance. Timing of future treatments varies depending on whether or not you receive a HydraFacial in combination with other treatments.

Why Select DISC for your HydraFacial?

Christine Morgan

Christine Morgan, Medical Aesthetician

While HydraFacial is known for consistent reliable results, they do vary. The treatment is not a one-size-fits-all deal, and requires customization for each patient in order to ensure that your personal goals are achieved in the most efficient way.

The criteria during the various phases of the HydraFacial varies not only on your own concerns, but also how your skin reacts to other treatments as well. Suction power, for instance, needs to be altered for certain areas depending what your conditions are, and this requires knowledge and technique that can only come with experience. The hydration phase requires selection from one of 3 different peel types, and requires consideration of your skin type, goals, reaction, and any other treatments you have, or plan on receiving.

Our aesthetician has years of experience in order to ensure that your benefits are maximum while side effects remain minimal. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions and receive expert advice from an experienced professional as opposed to other medical spas and locations that may have new, inexperienced technicians. She will also assist you with developing a full plan to address your skin care needs, and can provide you with specific details such as the order and timing for the treatments needed.

In addition, our dermatology team also offers a variety of other treatments that can be done in combination with your HydraFacial. Patients with acne for instance, will have access to our other acne treatment methods in one convenient location. Light treatments that can assist with wrinkle reduction are also available, in addition to Dr. Behroozan’s own personal skin care line.
